Welcome to Northside
Our desire is to be a community where healing and unconditional love can be found; a place to build closer, deeper relationship with God.
We are a group of believers seeking authentic relationships with Christ and one another. We worship, fellowship, study, and serve to develop greater intimacy with our Creator and His creation.
At Northside we express our love and gratitude to God through spiritual, God-centered worship and celebration. We work to share Christ's message through acts of service in our community and around the world.
If you are looking for a church family or just visiting we would love to meet you. We invite you to study, worship, and praise God with us.
Larry Sharp, Minister
We would like your first visit at Northside to be a meaningful one, so we want to give you a preview of what you can expect.
Warm Welcome:
As you enter on Sunday, you will be greeted by one of our members, who will give you a visitor’s card and a church bulletin. Our worship service takes place in our auditorium. There are no reserved seats, so feel free to sit anywhere you choose. If you have any questions, please let one of our greeters know.
Starting with a Song:
We love to sing! You will notice that we sing a cappella (without the accompaniment of musical instruments). This is just a preference; we think you’ll find the singing meaningful. The words for all our songs will be on a screen at the front of the auditorium so that you can follow along.
A Word of Prayer:
We pray several times during the service. We view prayer as a direct communication to God. There is also a time when you may have a personal prayer with one of our elders who will be standing at the four corners of the church.
The Lord’s Supper:
We take part in the Lord’s Supper, or Communion, each week. This is a time when we celebrate the sacrifice that Jesus made. After a brief reflection and prayer, trays of bread signifying Jesus’ body will be passed. Each participant will break off a piece and eat it. After another prayer, trays of juice signifying Jesus’ blood will be passed. Each participant will drink the contents of one cup and place the empty cup back in the tray. If you choose not to participate, don't be embarrassed… just pass the plate or tray to the person next to you.
Our Offering:
Each week, an offering is taken to support our ministry. As a visitor, we do not ask you give any money, but please fill out your visitor card and place it in the offering tray as it is passed.
Children’s Worship:
Following the Offering, the Worship Leader will dismiss children ages 4 through fifth grade to Children’s Worship activities in the Fellowship Hall. If your child should need you during the service, one of our volunteers will come get you or bring the child to you. Also, since the first time in a new church can be distressing for some children, you are welcome to stay with your child.
Northside Nursery
An adult supervised nursery also opens at this time. We serve the youngest among us, ages birth up to 4 years old. We provide a safe, educational, and nurturing environment that cultivates a love for God and respect and concern for others. Children are signed in and picked up by a parent or guardian.
A Message from the Word:
The sermon, or lesson, is a time to share in God’s Word. Often, people describe this as a time to gain new insights in the role that God plays in their life. We hope that you will be uplifted during this time.
Wrap it Up:
Our service ends with a few closing songs and a final prayer. Most of our members stay around after service to visit with friends and love the opportunity to meet our visitors. |
