Fifteen Minutes From the Bible is a radio
broadcast each Thursday at noon on
CCFM. Our two main purposes for this
radio program are to teach Bible truths to the people and to get them
to study their bibles. Peter Ford, the speaker, is the evangelist for
the Portland Church of Christ in the Mitchells Plain area of Cape Town.
Radio is a very effective way of reaching the people. The cost of radio
is much cheaper than sending out thousands of advertisements through
the mail and one 15-minute radio program will reach many thousands of
people.
CCFM is a
Christian radio station located in the Musinberg area of Cape Town. Its
frequency is 107.5 and for the Simons Town area it is 96.7.
We aim to get students to study their Bible by offering them a free
Bible correspondence course over the radio. During the radio broadcast
a telephone number is given so listeners can call right away. By
experience we have learned that the people prefer picking up the
telephone and calling to writing a letter.
Fifteen Minutes From the Bible has been on the air for two years. During this time nine hundred people have called and asked for the free Bible course.
After the students study the Bible course in the privacy of their home
for about two months they are sent an invitation to a one day seminar /
mini campaign where we begin a personal study with each one. They are
asked to fill in a card giving us their contact information and
indicate if they want someone to come to their home and study the Bible
with them. We have found this method to be very effective. Several of
those students are now faithful members in the Cape Town area.
We see the need to be using much more with radio. We would like to see
several radio programs going in the Cape Town area and in a number of
areas outside of Cape Town.
The people need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Their souls are
yearning for some good Good News. We need to provide them with as much
